This AdBlue® conforms to ISO 22241 and is for use in vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. Fuel Type: AdBlue® Suitable for: All SCR systems How does AdBlue® work? AdBlue® is injected from the vehicle’s dedicated AdBlue® storage tank into the exhaust pipe, positioned in front of the SCR catalyst but downstream of the engine. As it is heated in the exhaust, AdBlue® decomposes into ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). When the nitrogen oxide (NOx) gases in the exhaust react with the ammonia inside the catalyst, the harmful NOx molecules are converted into harmless nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O), which are released into the atmosphere as steam. Storage & Shelf Life Store for up to 12 months under recommended conditions. Following ISO 22241-3, AdBlue® has a shelf life of at least 18 months from the manufacturing date.
